Why is my VB.Net program not responding to an input from my serial port?
I have a VB.net program that takes a serial port input via a Socketserver/ParallelPort solution.
When I run the program in debug mode it responds to the input coming in from my serial port, but when it's released to my server and the software is installed, my serial port is not responding to the input. Is there something I'm missing here? The data is being sent fine as I can see it on the server. The serial port is attached using an unmanaged class.

The simplest solution is to use a separate client program, which sends data to the server. Then, you don't need a complicated solution like you are using now. You can use SerialPort.WriteLine() instead of SerialPort.DataReceived.
If your server doesn't support this, you will have to use a more complex solution, which you can use your own message formats.
